I am having a problem with the setting on my shower knob. i have not used this shower for over a year cause im not sure how to fix my problem without having a plumber come in. i have finally broke down and am submitting this thread in hopes that you guys can help me out.
in the center of the knob circle is where the knob goes on and gets screwed to. on the outside of the center there are two openings that have a set screw on the left and on the right. at one point i took the handle off and started messing with those screws, turning them clock wise and counter clock wise. i dont recall what i was trying to acheive by doing this but now that i have turned those screws over and over and over again in each direction, i have somehow changed the location of the main knob to turn the water off. now that off is in the hot water location, i have lost all hot water. the water just turns off. but if i turn the knob to the cold side, that is perfectly fine.
somehow, with me turning those little screws, i have changed the way the water runs. i have again tried to turn these counter clock wise as well as clockwise to try and get these back to there normal position so i can use this shower once again, but no luck.
how do i fix this?

This may be a longshot but here it goes.
Turn the set screw on the right counter clock wise all the way till it stops.
Turn the set screw on the left counter clock wise all the way till it stops.
See if there is any improvement in water flow.
The white plastic looks like the temporary installation guide/guard that is usually removed for permanent usage.
You may have to spin the stem around some to get the proper temperature adjustment.
Remember even with good flow it may take quite a few secondsto get hot water.
.............. .......
.............. Good Luck ...........

You have a Moen With Integral stops for the water supply,First turn BOTH stops until fully open since you have no hot then turn it which ever way it turns and try it again, make sure you have both hot and cold, Then temporarly replace the trim and the handle and make sure that you get hot when it points to hot and cold when it points to cold, when it does remove the trim and handle, remove the "horseshoe" clip the copper colored piece that can be seen on the Left side of Center (be sure to turn the water off at the main FIRST. Remove the cartridge and replace with a new Brass or Plastic Moen cart. Just be sure when you remove the cart to PAY close attention to the position upon removal o-rings will tell the story of the position that it needs to be replaced.

These may be 1/4 turn stops if rotating them in the counter clockwise position does not fully open or they do not stop spinning stop the slot in the screw head with the slot horizontal.the hot flow may be due to a stuck balancer spool you will have to remove this plastic plate to see it low and left of the cold inlet pipe.Moen-trol valve body.

Good Luck. Insulate your hot piping, although costly, it will pay you back every day.

Those are NOT adjustments, they are integral individual shut off valves. If you turn them to a certain point, all it does is shut off that water's flow. If the balancing spool is working, turning off EITHER valve would shut off ALL flow from the faucet. If that is not happening, then the spool is stuck and you either have to free it, or replace the stem.

Those may be check-stops so the spring loaded piston may be stuck
