I was replacing the tub diverter spout and twisted off the tub filler pipe. How do I go about replacing that without tearing my tub surround out?

if there is enough of the tubing sticking out of the wall to solder a coupling to, you are OK. if not, you will need to have access from the wall behind the tub.

as said .If you damaged the tubing behind your unit ,bad.If you have 5/8"in front of the closure it could be repaired.

Good Luck. Insulate your hot piping, although costly, it will pay you back every day.

If you're lucky you only twisted off the male adapter that was soldered on the stub out. Unlucky it twisted out of the 90 in the wall. Assuming you have copper.
