Is it OK to try to clean drain vent by hosing water down vent pipe from the roof?

i doubt your hose will do anything...you may fall off the roof though
what are you trying to accomplish? do you have clogged drains? your better off to pull a toilet

you can try it but it wont do much more than flushing the toilet will

YES, it is ok... to try. But at what risks to you? A flat rood is safer as a pitched roof is much more riskier. You have nothing to lose but your life, health and dignity.

If it is actually clogged, AND if it is something which can be flushed out then it should work. Otherwise all you will do is flush water down the drain. BUT, if it is something which will flush away, it would seldom be packed down to the point where NO air could pass through it to maintain the venting action.

High velocity flush water flowing past the other's connection can equal suction and loss of trap seal. But then it could be any of several things, but until everything is evaluated, ANY suggestion for a cure is just guessing.
