Most Toto's ive gotten are from Mexico, Vietnam, etc

pretty rare i get a USA one....i have had issues 3x when i put a tank from one country on a bowl of another....

I install them pretty often w/o problems....less problems than Kohler and tons less than Mansfield

Ive never had a customer who asks for US only..lately all my customers want the cheapest of everything....as long as its in brushed nickel.

im fighting w/ customers to be able to supply their fixtures even though its written in my contract.....i cant imagine going only USA and raising my prices...

The USA Wolverine brass valves are like $25 for a 1"....i get my Nibco's for like $8

I used to do all my remodels in copper...now all my copper is turning green and im doing PEX on everything...

I think its a great idea in a great economy, but not in a down one...

Here in WI the economy is sinking like a rock....6 referral calls per day has turned into 3 a month for 2.5 months straight....im surviving off my builders/remodelers....and im lowering my prices just to be competitive..

You can ask your supplier to order USA Toto's and keep a couple in stock for you, or fill your garage w/ a few of them....Ill bet even if the Toto box says USA the flush valve will still say China on it.

I like to work w/ quality parts and push my customers to the highest quality they can go....so id love to do USA only too...maybe someday i will too

Twenty-five years ago I scoffed at the "Buy American" campaign. I felt it was not necessary. Since then our government has seen fit to sell the American worker's down the drain,by entering into trade agreements with Third World countries. Those "Free Trade" agreements have allowed big business to close their American factories and move their manufacturing to countries where the average employee makes 7 grand a yr. or less, with absolutely no benefits. The products made there are then just deposited on our shores with with no tarrifs. How can we compete?I hear the @#$%& on television say,"We need to be part of the Global Economy. We were always part of the Global Economy....The Leader. I am not pointing fingers at anyone because we all do it. I know times are tough, but we are still finding reasons to not "Buy American".Please excuse my rant ,but it is probably the most important subject we need to face now.

there is a plus side to shipping factory work to Mexico...

how much do you pay for your shoes or Blue Jeans? i pay the same as i did 20 years ago

everything we buy is less....this makes it possible to buy, buy, buy

You cant just barely squeak by graduating high school and go to work in a factory the rest of your life...you have to do well and go to college or pick up a technical trade....like plumbing...

I dont have a big problem w/ Nafta....I have a good job and because of it my family has a higher standard of living because we can buy products for much less.

Some people will be willing to pay double/triple for USA made plumbing parts...thats your market....id like it too....most people will be happy with my valve made at the 'better' Chinese manufacturing plant....when the economy improves i may try the Buy American idea...i like to give the best level of product my customer is willing to pay for.
