 Diverter Valve again
Author: BlueJim (MI)

Thanks for your responses.
It is more than a trickle. I'd say it is 10-20% of the water flow that comes out of the lower faucet instead of the shower head.

It is sort of a strange set-up. It is a shower alone--no tub, but there is a lower faucet with a valve.

My gut tells me that it is broken and $$ to replace so that the seller is trying to tell me something that is simply not true to avoid the cost.

It is not "strange", since it is the way I prefer to install shower units. A picture of your diverter spout would be helpful, but NONE of them are megadollars to replace. Usually it is a DIY job using a $15.00 diverter spout, but even if a plumber does it it would be in the $150.00 range.

jim most manufacturers are apposed to locking out 100 percent of the flow!If you can replace the spout wih adelta rp1700 series if will lock out 100 percent of the water but the valve type may not like it!!!!

Good Luck.Insulate your hot piping.

Is your shower valve a Moentrol "Monique" with toe tester?

A Moenique would either have be mounted VERY low to be a "toe tester" or the normal height in which case it would be a "hand tester".
