I have a single handle koehler faucet in the shower. Off is at the bottom, cold is further up to the left and hot is further up yet.
Sometimes the faucet works alright and then the next time I might have the faucet in the hot position and cold water will come out so I turn it to the maximum hot and then it is scalding. I then turn the faucet to cold to have it be freezing. The water regulating is sometimes screwed up. At first I thought it was the water heaters problem but that checked out ok. Is there something that needs replacing? Appreciate any help.

it could possibly be a pressure problem or maybe the balancing spool in the faucet has a problem
