I have a single handle delta shower valve. I have very low pressure at the tub and shower head. When the shower is just on cold it has ok pressure to the shower head but when I turn it counter clockwise to increase the hot temperature it loses almost all of it's pressure.
There are no individual shutoffs for the tub/shower. There is a plastic piece that limits the hot water temp by determining how far I can turn it in the hot direction. I removed this but it did not affect the problem.

I forgot to add this picture. It sounds from reading this site that it is the cartridge's pressure balancing spool.
To remove the cartridge there is a brass threaded ring that can be unscrewed. After removing that ring do I then just pull the cartridge straigh out with a pilers? Is there any additional tricks?

Just be careful not to to squeeze the ring too hard. I find they are usually just hand tight. Try to open with a rubber jar opener.
Plier can oval it and make it bind up

Does anyone know if the cartridge for this Delta will be available at Home Depot or Menards?

adrian.Put the piece back onto the control shaft.It must be used or you cannot even guess .you must locate it at the all or open to highest hot temp to know what is occurring on your balanced delta valve.Then start by turning on cold only slow flow.if you cannot get only slow flow cold then replace the balancer in the cart /or is separate the whole cart!

Good Luck. Insulate your hot piping, although costly, it will pay you back every day.
