Had a new counter installed. There is 3/4" plywood, a cement float
and granite tile counter. The problem is the threads on the air gap that come standard are too few - - i.e., if you screw the top, cannot screw the nut on the bottom. Do you know of one that has threads further on the pipe???
Ideas gratefully desired!

Drill out with a larger hole saw. Or skip the gap.

now how would drilling with a larger hole saw extend the threads of the air gap? or are you meaning to drill a counter sink hole thus thinning the counter top?

Measure what you need below remove existing nut and cut a section of 11/2" pipe long enough to span the gap between the wye part of gap body and the bottom side of counter top then tighten it up! done it for years no problem!
