We have real hard water on a well.I am ready to bite the bullet after five years and put in a system before it destroys all our fixtures and makes it more enjoyable to drink. It actualy test potable and taste good but you can see minerals in the water, like if you had a glass of ice water by your bed you dont want that last drink in the night because in the morning you can see clingy mineral type stuff.I've put in a few filters over the years (non-salt)and have not been happy with any, except an EWS charcoal filter. It's pretty darn expensive but like I said I am ready.Anybody install any others that stands out head and shoulders above the rest(non salt).

There are only 2 ways to remove minerals from water. 1. Reverse Osmosis. 2. Ion Exchange. No filter will remove dissolved minerals.

High pass filters are designed to capture Elephants and Hippos. What you wish to trap will pass directly thru filters. To save your pipes, fitures and promote a healthier life style, please consider a water conditioner. Its important to know exactly what is in your water before you leave for the "conditioner store."
Have your water tested by a certified water specialist!
Best Wishes

Salt type will give you the best results and the best cost/service
Stay away from store brands if you can.
Look for either Clack or Fleck or MacClean and you will have good equipment
