either cut the nut or drill out the screw

You can cut the nut with a red hot knife but don't breath the fumes..
If you drill it you need to be careful not to hit the china.

Shoe - is there any danger to the pocelain if the red hot knife touches it? Is porcelain easy cracked with heat?

I haven't ever had a problem with that. You won't have to hold the knife there long enough for the heat to transfer to the china.
The plastic nut should split pretty quickly.
