i have an outdoor wood burner it has a hot water coil in it and we have hard water.the coil is clogged any ideas how to clean it out.tried vinegar worked a little but still not much pressure.

They make a product called "Coil Boil" that is used for that purpose. I Also I have heard of guys using some kind of acid. I never used either, but have back flushed the coil before with adapters and a hose.

There are commercially available products that will do the job. Sizzle is one of them. It is a very strong acid that most supply houses will only sell to licensed plumbers. After you get it cleaned out you need to address the hardness problem.

If it is copper, then use muriatic acid.

Sizzle, Coil Boil, and similar products are just varying strengths of muriatic acid.

Oh yea, you need a ceramic pump to pump it through the coil also. Regular pumps won't last 5 minutes.

If it is a "flow through" heater without a storage tank, then it will not have a pump.

I think he was talking about a transfer pump.
