It is generally recommended to replace these connectors when the appliance is replaced and not to reuse these connectors. I was wondering as to the reasons why.
Is it that the stainless steel becomes brittle with age? Or is it that flares at the end only seal well once and might not seal properly a second time? Does the stainless steel deteriorate from trace chemicals(cleaning chemicals) present in the kitchen or laundry room?

the manufacturers state that they should not be used more than once. i dont know the reason for sure but i think it has to do with the flare

chlorine in dishwashing soap will adversly affect the stainless. if liquid detergent is used to 'bubble test' a stainless steel gas connection, it must be washed off with warm water.

I am waiting for the day we are ask to use the commercial flexies
we use in restaurant kitchen in homes so the appliances can be move for cleaning.
I am not sure why we can't reuse flexies, I think it is because stoves should be installed and last a long time. And when the stove finnaly gives out the flex should be ready too.

IT probably comes under the "corrugated stainless steel tubing" classification even though not normally referred to a CSST.
