Unless you get a second hand tank you will probably need a complete new toilet. This is usually the best route in my opinion anyways.

If the age is 18 years or more, there will be no subsitute. Down here, at least. 1992 marked the changeover to 1.6 gallon toilets, and no new tank will fit on an old toilet, and assuming you have a 3.5 gallon or 5 gallon toilet, no new tank would properly flush the bowl.

IF you toilet is newer, then some Crane model might fit on it. Problem is , Crane was sold. It is now part of American Standard, which was also sold. All three labels ( Crane, Eljer, AS) are under the American Standard Plumbing corporate holding company umbrella. There are still products sold under the Crane and Eljer labels. But much of the old corporate memory and data banks disappear in these mergers, hence the lack of support.

One rule for repair parts is that they are ALWAYS more expensive than if you buy them as a whole unit, therefore, a new toilet may be less expensive than a tank, if you could find one which would fit and still flush your toilet.
