told by plumber underground pipe broken but only kitchen sink getting backed up, does this sound correct?

How does he know? Did he send a camera down the drain? Did he snake it out and get dirt back? I would call someone else for a 2nd opinion. Plumbing is a lot like doctoring, 2nd opinions are always good to have.

it could be correct but dont take his word for it, get a video inspection of the line done and make sure they record it and give you a copy so you can use it to solicit more than one bid using the 1 inspection
