I am running 1" Black Plastic water pipe from the curb through my foundation wall. I have the pipe terminated about 1' into the basement. I need to connect into the existing system about 20' away and 4' 5" higher than my entry point.
In order to keep the install as clean as possible I wanted to use a plastic 90 degree elbow at the entry point, and then continue up with more black plastic. I can bend the black plastic under the floor joist with a nice radius'ed curve, thus reducing the connections (by one anyway). I would then connect into the existing copper. I wanted to do it this way to save on copper and I already have the black pipe.
Another option would be to install a 90 degree elbow at the wall and come up, then another 90 degree elbow, then strait across. I could also use white plastic water pipe, I think.
Other than thoughts on the above, how far away from the concrete block wall should I keep the pipe as it goes vertical?

Where is the meter going to go?
I would run copper all the way.

Once you are inside the foundation, white PVC is not allowed, even though it is still clearly in the "cold only" category.

The meter is at the curb.
OK on the no white PVC.
I thought about doing it in copper once inside the foundation, but we are selling the home and didn't want to spend any more than I had to. But I still want it done right & legal

you will need to get a shut off in the vertical pipe somewhere close to the foundation.
black plastic will look kinda mickey mouse but if you slide some armaflex rubber insulation over the pipe as you go along, it will look alot better.

Do you think a buyer is going to be more impressed to buy the house if the water pipe is copper, neatly installed next to the wall, and tight to the ceiling, or plastic 8" from the wall and curving to the connection. I know which I would prefer.

Points well taken. Convert to copper as soon as it enters the foundation. Place a quarter-turn ball valve on the vertical pipe. I will insulate the vertical section as it is close to the wall.
