not on gas.i should add the black is used out of the weather( indoor) ,the galvi is exterior use....you can run all galvi if you want-in and out.it just costs more out here. plus many people use gastite pipe and fittings.

What about an air system hooked up to a nitrogen tank with a pressure regulator on it that if it fails will see the full pressure of the tank

Air should be fine.

Any pipe probably not rated for full tank pressure ( how much is that?) and the solution is to have a relief valve on the system.

1500 psi and there is a pressure regulator 5 feet away but i dont know if that small of a line can discharge air fast enough to keep from over pressuring the the 1/4 inch line and the pressure gauge. Ill bet money the pressure gauge isnt rated for that kind of pressure or the line.

Just a couple thoughts...........If you have a regulator on the system that could possibly fail wide open, you're using the wrong type of regulator. And as stated, the system should have a relief valve.

Only for water piping.

What difference would that make? Both pipes have the same pressure rating.

The pressure gauge is rated for whatever its dial reads, and only specialized materials can withstand that pressure.

WE all know that EVERYTHING is illegal in MA. Here they can be mixed, and exposed outdoor gas pipe has to be galvanized or painted.

IF you are that concerned about something that may never happen, or if this is a medical situation, then you need a two stage regulator.
