removing a dishwasher and don't want to replace it
Author: sassiebrat (CA)

i want to remove my dishwasher, but i am not replacing it. what do i do to keep water from flowing all over the floor?

the valve that shuts the water off to the DW is the same valve that shuts hot water off to my sink. it is under the sink. how do i cap the the copper tubing that carries water to the DW so water does not flow all over the floor?

I'd use a flare fitting with a cap or replace the valve.

My vote is to replace the double stop valve with a new Brasscraft single stop valve. You will need to turn the water to the house off for this. As far as the water left over in the supply pipe to the DW-just get a small bucket or cup (guarantee you don't have a lot of water in that line). After reading the new posts..yes a compression cap would be the quickest, easiest, and least expensive option.

You can get a cap that fits the compression valve outlet.

There are many ways to shut off the water, depending on your abilities. I would pinch it off and solder it shut, but that is probably not an easy thing for you to do.
