To correct a slight misalignment on a 1" copper suction line to a domestic water shallow well jet pump (I can't relocate the pump) I'd like to use a short flexible 1" hose with a 1" NPT male for the pump and a swivel female to the NPT male connector coming from the cistern. This would minimize the number of joints and also eliminate the 1" union installed for ease of dis assembly. However, I can't find application info to know whether a rubber braided hose is strong enough or should I go with the more expensive stainless hose. Other suggestions? I thought of 1" poly but reluctant to try and airtight barb connectors (double clamps?). Corrugated Hot Water tank hose might work except for the turbulence problems in a suction application? Dunno!

I'd probably use a short piece of 1" pex.

The stainless steel connectors usually have a rubber sleeve inside them and that might collapse under suction.

In most cases poly pipe is fine.

you could use flexible pvc tubing like you find for Jacuzzi or pool applications .I would not use poly or rubber hose since I do not believe it would be rated for suction or vacuum.

Good Luck.Insulate your hot piping.

Black poly is what the well drillers would use.

There would be no problem, unless something happened so that the pump was running but had no flow. Then turbulence would heat the water and soften the pipe so suction could collapse it.
