As mentioned in a previous post, my wife bought some enzyme drain cleaner (BioSmart). It says on the label to mix one ladel full of the stuff with a pint of water and then pour it down the drain before bed with the idea being sinks don't get much use at night. But it seems to me that the one pint would coat the P trap nicely but the stuff would not reach the more distant plumbing unless follow-up water is run. What do you guys think? Thanks!

enzymes eat the gunk in the drain lines. they will work there way down the line. adding to much water will only wash them out and thus have no effect

Makes sense. I'll pour the stuff in and let it sit at least overnight.

Do not put mouthwash down the sink, the alcohal will kill the enzymes. That will make you start from scratch every time...

Thanks for that advice Mike. I will be using mouthwash elsewhere - not in the sink that always gets clogged. Never had problems with the other 2 sinks - just one particular one.

Rick, we must think alike. When ever I have a cold, the medicine label say 2 tablespoons 3 times a day. I figure if I take 3 tablespoons 6 times a day, my cold will heal much quicker. The sad news is... it doesn't.
Follow the directions of the bottle.
Best Wishes
