Recently, my kitchen hot water dispenser smells funny and tastes different. The cold water line is fine. Model 1100 is nearly 3 years old. Is there a filter in the metal tank? We have well water that is treated. No other hot water in my home has an odor or bad taste. Thanks.

not sure what or if it is fixable but there is definitely something in the unit causing this

No filter, although some of the newer units had a filter in the water line.

Type of smell would help... rotten-egg/sulfur smell maybe?

They have a 5 year "come to you" warranty on the 1100. You might want to take advantage of that if you can.

Oops, that's just for the faucet. Only 3 years on the tank...

If you also had one of these that hasn't had a filter change in 3 years

...it would be time for a new filter.

Thank you all for your comments.
Re: the smell - it's like a sickening sweet smell. Not rotten eggs, not like bad food, not a metallic taste. I thought at first that my cup wasn't clean. Is there a filter inside the hot water tank? Does the tank deteriorate over time on the inside? There is a filter on the cold water that can be changed, but the cold water is on a separate line than the hot water.

does it smell after you have ran the disposer?

no filter in the water heater, and yes the tank can deteriorate over time under the right conditions

exactly where on the cold line is this filter installed?
